About the Role

As an Interventional Pulmonology and Respiratory Fellow, you will provide clinical services for both respiratory inpatients and outpatients while developing advanced procedural and research skills. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience across a wide range of respiratory cases and procedures including linear and radial EBUS, rigid bronchoscopy, cryobiopsy of central and peripheral lung lesions, robotic and CBCT-guided bronchoscopy, endoscopic laser resection, stent deployment and bronchial thermoplasty for refractory asthma
  • Develop skills in performing pleural procedures within our established and dedicated pleural service, one of only three in NSW
  • Participate in first-in-human research projects investigating novel methods for endoscopic lung volume reduction in COPD, including segmental polymer sealant ablation and airway bypass devices
  • Contribute to our active research program in local bronchoscopic therapy of lung cancers in conjunction with robotic platforms

  • Supervise and train students, registrars and other Doctors in Training
  • Contribute to educational activities across Macquarie University Health
  • Work towards AABIP certification, with access to the AABIP/AIPPD curriculum, educational materials and events, assessed alongside U.S. colleagues

Macquarie University Health Respiratory is also a leading centre in the management and research of bronchoscopic techniques for lung volume reduction in COPD (including endobronchial valves, thermal liquid ablation, airway bypass devices and polymer sealant), and a major referral centre for interventional management of central airways disease, lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, refractory asthma, bronchiectasis and interstitial lung disease.
